my favourite scary thing is a little podcast called the no sleep podcast. it's basically a narrated version of the no sleep forum on reddit and it's so good. it makes the stories so much scarier because you're listening to them rather than just reading them? idk. some of them are so haunting haha, i love the thrill. there was one a while back about this family who move to a house on their own island and creepy things start happening regarding the water surrounding them and euuughhh *shudder*

One of my favorite creepypastas is Candle Cove, it's a classic. It's not super scary, but it's unsettling. Apparently SyFy made a TV series about it, which I haven't seen yet.

(There was a time when I was really into browsing the nosleep stories and the one I've always liked the best is the US forest service search and rescue one.

There's something subtly creepy about it which I really love from the staircases going up to nowhere that are randomly scattered in the woods to the people who disappear in weird, weird ways that defy space-time conventions)

I dunno whether it counts but I've always liked this Cry Reads, The Smiling Man. Nothing psrticullarly horrible happens in it, but the mental image of a man who was a speck in the distance getting closer and closer as he runs full speed towards me in the dark really freaks me out.
